What is the 'Circle Club' and who does it cater for? For many years a dedicated team, under the umbrella of a charitable trusteeship, invited elderly people from the surrounding neighbourhoods to come to what was then known as the Turners Hill Day Centre in Compass House in the grounds of Worth Abbey on Tuesdays in school term time. The members were offered transport and on arrival at about 11.00 am were offered tea/coffee before being served an excellent lunch prepared by the professional chefs in the school kitchens. After lunch, activities or entertainment were on offer until the members departed at about 3.00 pm. In the early summer of 2012 the Trustees decided they could no longer continue and the Centre was closed

In September 2012 new Trustees were identified who were prepared to resurrect the enterprise under the new title 'The Circle Club'. The previous Trustees very kindly agreed to transfer the Charitable Trust and the formatlities were completedin April 2013. The newly appointed Trustees entered into a joint venture with Age-UK who appointed a professional co-ordinator to manage the Club on their behalf. This partnership was put in place to ensure compliance with Health and Safety and Environmental regulations

Compass House   The Circle Club opened for business on the 30th April 2014 attracting a number of previous members of the Day Centre and some new members. The Co-ordinator, Joe Pepper, is assisted by a number of volunteers and drivers who give freely of their time to ensure members have a really enjoyable experience
Compass House

The Club operates on forty-eight Tuesdays during the year and ample notice is given when for whatever reason Compass House is not available. On those dates the Trustees plan to organise some day outings either to the South Coast or perhaps to a National Trust venue

If you or anyone you know would like to pop along to sample what is on offer please call Pippa Mercado on 01342 824769. You will receive a warm welcome
