Junior Church is a children's liturgy that is provided during the 9.30 Sunday morning Mass in the Abbey Church. There are two classes: one for pre-school aged children and one for school-aged children. We sing some songs, have a simple Liturgy of the Word, encourage a discussion about what the children have heard and also have fun activities relating to the Gospel reading. These activities are suited to the different age groups. There is a team of 6 parishioners who take it in turns to teach the classes in creative and instructive ways. Classes for pre-school age children are held every Sunday at 9.30am in the Unity Room with Erica Ballard. Classes for school-age children are held in the Choir Vestry with Rachel Davies.

Classes for school-age children are term-time only. They resume on Sunday 10th September 2017.

The Junior Church would love to have your help. Would you like to be involved? If so please contact Rachel Davies rfrmaison@gmail.com or mobile 07801696354

Children's Liturgy

Children's liturgy   A Children's Liturgy is held on the first Saturday of the month at the 5.00pm Vigil Mass in the Abbey Church. The next Liturgy is on Saturday, 7th October 2017.

PARENTS OF YOUNG CHILDREN - RELAX!!!

God put the wriggle in children, don't feel you have to suppress it in God's house. All are welcome!

Sit toward the front, where it is easier for your little ones to see and hear what's going on at the altar. They tire of seeing the back of other's heads.

Quietly explain the parts of the mass, actions of the priest, altar servers, etc.

Sing the hymns. Pray and voice the responses. Children learn liturgical behaviour by copying you.

If you have to leave mass with your child, feel free to do so, but please come back! As Jesus said "let the children come to me".

Remember that the way we welcome children in church directly affects the way they respond to the Church, to God, to one another,. Let them know that they are at home in this house of worship.
